Equally impressive as the leading actors are supporting actors like Sung Dong Il (Some) whose outlandish slapstick humor doubles the laughter for the audience. Though the film reflects on the grim realities of colonialism and stays true to some historical facts, it is laced with period romanticism and fanciful fabrication as evident in its use of modern-day pop culture to achieve a humorous mix of history and fantasy.
